Israel’s Occupation of Palestinian Land: Deemed Illegal by the International Court of Justice, Indonesia Strongly Condemns

Jakarta, Siber24jam.com – July 20, 2024. The conflict between Israel and Palestine has once again captured the attention of the international community. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) at the United Nations has reaffirmed that Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal. In its ruling, the ICJ stated that Israel’s actions violate international law and United Nations Security Council Resolutions.

“The occupation of Palestinian territories by Israel constitutes a breach of international law and is unlawful based on United Nations Security Council resolutions. This action must be terminated immediately to achieve a just and sustainable peace in the region,” the ICJ ruling declared.

This firm stance has garnered support from many countries, including Indonesia. In an official statement, the Indonesian government strongly condemned Israel’s continued expansion of illegal settlements in Palestinian territories.

“The international community must unite in urging Israel to end its occupation of Palestinian land. Indonesia will continue to support the Palestinian people’s struggle for independence and sovereignty,” said Indonesia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs at a press conference, Friday, July 19, 2024

The Indonesian government also emphasized its commitment to working with other UN member states in efforts to achieve a fair and sustainable two-state solution.

“Indonesia believes that the two-state solution is the best path to achieving peace in the Middle East. We will continue to support diplomatic efforts and negotiations that prioritize justice and human rights,” the Minister added.

The ICJ’s unequivocal statement and the support from countries like Indonesia demonstrate that the international community will not remain silent in the face of illegal actions that threaten global peace. This illegal occupation must be halted to pave the way for lasting and just peace for both parties involved.
