Unauthorized Sale of Foreign Brand Shoes at PT Sepatu Mas Idaman in Bogor Shocks

Siber24jam.com – PT Sepatu Mas Idaman, located in the Sukaraja District, Bogor Regency, is suspected of selling American brand shoes such as Sperry, Sabago, and Wolverine to employees and the public without the brand owners’ permission. In the factory warehouse, thousands of pairs of B grade and C grade shoes that should have been destroyed are being stored, some of which are sold to employees and offered to the public. This action has a negative impact on Indonesia’s image, which should uphold its commitment to the quality of domestically produced shoes.

Several years ago, people claimed to have purchased shoes from PT Sepatu with brands such as Sperry, Sabago, and Wolverine, which were of low quality and suspected to be without the brand owners’ knowledge.

“I once bought shoes from that company, almost 2,000 pairs. Some were still in good condition and some were damaged. I bought Sperry, Sabago, and Wolverine brands because the company sold them officially, even through customs,” said SI, not their real name.

Several PT employees also admitted that Sabago and Wolverine brands can be purchased by employees, and some are sold outside after being bought from the factory.

“Employees and I can buy Sabago and Wolverine brand shoes. Some of my friends also buy and then sell them outside the factory. As far as I know, there are still thousands of pairs of low-quality shoes inside the factory, sometimes moved around warehouses. They used to be stored in containers, now they’ve been moved again,” explained some employees.

Meanwhile, the factory management, Mr. Richad, and the inspection or buyer representatives, Mr. Edy and Ita, who work on behalf of the brand owners, did not respond when contacted via WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, shoe observers believe that the factory should not sell shoes without permission, especially with B grade and C grade quality.

“In my opinion, if there are leftover shoe productions that are not suitable for sale, the factory should destroy them. The factory should not sell without the brand owner’s permission, and could be fined or have their cooperation agreements terminated,” concluded Herli.
